Title:

Anatomical air humidifier.

Protection status:

Patent application No. P.437697

Subject:

The subject of the application is an ultrasonic anatomical humidifier. An air humidifier is a useful device for increasing indoor humidity.

In the medical field, working with “wet” anatomical preparations, i.e. those preserved with liquid preservatives, involves many technical problems. Preparations intensively lose preservatives. Through evaporation, harmful, irritating and even carcinogenic volatile substances such as formaldehyde, ethanol and phenol are released particularly quickly.

Prolonged exposure, during dissection activities and examinations, also causes accelerated water loss. Even slightly desiccated soft tissues lose elasticity and are easily damaged mechanically – a serious problem in the face of very low donation rates.

Benefits:

The device provides protection of the donation preparation from drying out and secondary damage, allowing hours of work with a single preparation during practice anatomy classes or dissections. This offers the chance to significantly extend the research and didactic usefulness of the preparation. The device additionally showed a marked decrease in the levels of formaldehyde and ethanol in the air during operation.

Stage of work:

A prototype of the device confirms its effectiveness and efficiency of function.

Application:

Post-mortems (prosectories, anatomy labs and others). Application of the solution in the medical field increases the safety of employees and students – reduces the concentration of harmful and irritating preservatives (formaldehyde, ethanol) in the inhaled air.
