Title:

Medipost – System and method of performing dynamic posturography

Protection status:

Paten – Number of international protection right: EP 3 669 759 A1, EP 3 785 605 A1, EP 3 786 976 A1, EP 3 785 627 A1, EP 3 785 628 A1.

Subject:

The subject of the invention is a novel diagnostic and rehabilitation system designed for the assessment and rehabilitation of balance system disorders. The technically novel device is equipped with sensors for functional evaluation of the balance system and gait analysis. The portable electronic device is based on triaxial sensors – gyroscopes and accelerometers – placed on a specific part of the body, made as modern micromechanisms (MEMS). The system is a combination of medicine, biomechanics, electronics and computer science.

Benefits:

The design of the device, the system and the application allows for easy and fast implementation of rehabilitation tests almost anywhere.

The use of state-of-the-art techniques with a relatively low price/functionality ratio makes the system attractive on the medical device market and in common use. The devices available so far on the world markets are characterized by less versatility at a much higher price compared to the Medisept system.

Stage of work:

Przeprowadzono walidację rozwiązania – badanie w grupie osób zdrowych i osób z dysfunkcją układu przedsionkowego w teście Swap Seats; przeprowadzono analizy porównawcze pomiędzy posturografią statyczną i dynamiczną (posturography-HS; Sensory Organization Test – SOT) oraz urządzeniem Medisept. Wykonano testy kliniczne takie jak badanie równowagi i chodu wg Tinetti, test wstań i idź (TUG), skala równowagi Berga (BBS), Dynamic Gait Index (DGI).

Application:

Validation of the solution was carried out – testing in a group of healthy people and people with vestibular dysfunction in the Swap Seats test; comparative analyses were carried out between static and dynamic posturography (Posturography-HS; Sensory Organization Test – SOT) and the Medisept device. Clinical tests such as the balance and gait test according to Tinetti, the stand up and walk test (TUG), the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and the Dynamic Gait Index (DGI) were performed.
