Title:

Method of manufacturing a prosthesis for reconstructive surgery.

Protection status:

Patent No. Pat.238316

Subject:

The subject of the invention is a method of manufacturing a prosthesis for reconstructive surgery, using a biomaterial – microbial cellulose, produced by stationary culture of Gluconobacter xylinus bacteria, involving spatial modeling of the prosthesis and its modification by bathing in sodium lye. The subject of the application is also a prosthesis for reconstructive surgery obtained by the above method, in particular an auricle prosthesis.

Benefits:

Excellent strength and biocompatibility of the prosthesis obtained by the method according to the invention, an effective method of shaping and modyfying, confirmed by the performed procedure of implantation of the prosthesis in animals and observation for 720 days. Positive result on the elasticity and structural integrity of the prosthesis.

Stage of work:

Performed optimization of the process of obtaining cellulose membrane, spatial modeling of the prosthesis, modification of the prosthesis in soda lye, conducted in vivo studies.

Application:

Wide range of use in products for medical applications: production of prostheses used in reconstructive surgery.
